Using FEMA emergency management core capabilities and CDC's public health preparedness capabilities as models, this ACRP proposed project will help airports across the country expand existing emergency management programs through the development of industry specific capabilities and metrics for increasing resiliency, preparedness, recovery, planning, and more.
Research is recommended to see how to better capture benefits stemming from proposed projects when conducting BCAs for GA airports.
The purpose of this research is to support the airport industry in building a pipeline of talent that will result in skilled, long-tenured airport employees. This will be accomplished through a focus on recruitment and hiring practices that improve awareness of the industry, increase the number of interested and qualified applicants, and focus on increasing diversity and inclusion within the workforce pipeline.
The proposed research is designed to develop a comprehensive series of awards to recognize the achievement of individuals who have studied and mastered specific topical ACRP Reports, related Syntheses, webcasts, and other materials. Participants are recognized through a system of badges, medallions, and certificates. This program loosely emulates the iconic Boy Scout/Girl Scout Merit Badge programs.
The purpose of this idea is to engage in a research process to develop an airport industry Guidebook and Toolkit on topics related to implementing a positive culture and enhancing the employee experience within airports. The end product would be a set of user-friendly products to guide airports in enhancing their culture and employee experience to improve retention.
Airports are increasingly interested in bringing multi-discipline subject matter experts together in a common environment to improve collaborative decision making during regular and irregular operations. Guidance on how to plan and design for these centers is needed.
A Service Operator Model (SOM) is a business model for airports to consider adopting which is a change for most U.S. airports from a landlord management approach to a more collaborative business approach by managing all of the functional areas of the passenger journey. The Guidance will describe initial steps such as developing the business model that fits your airport.
Develop a guidebook that would assist airports and other aviation analysts become familiar with the different sources of data that are available to support analyses and forecasts of air passenger travel. Provide guidance on which types of data are appropriate for use in a given study, understand the strengths and limitations of the different potential data sources, and estimate the likely costs involved in their use.
Vegetation and grass height is suggested to be between 7-14 inches on airports to deter small bird species; this concept has been tested in the past, with mixed results. I suggest a study should be conducted building on the previous publications keeping in mind new technologies and different grass management strategies to determine if current best management strategies are sufficient or may need to be updated.
