Many airports have air traffic control tower (ATCT) facilities that were constructed more than 50 years ago and despite renovation and rehabilitation efforts, they are reaching the end of their useful life. - Planned and unplanned outages of alternative intra-airport transportation systems such as trains.
A synthesis that identifies and describes the cognitive abilities used in airfield operations. The synthesis would identify methods for mitigating risks inherent to human performance and would identify best practices for developing or improving these abilities.
