Guidebook for Implementing Public EV Charging at Airports

We propose an ACRP guidebook and associated tools to help airports plan and implement EV charging stations. Specific topics of the guidebook could include: station siting, codes and standards, costs and benefits, pricing electricity use, payment systems, future-proofing investments, ADA requirements, signage, and incorporation with airport emission goals and airport master plan.

Background (Describe the current situation or problem in the industry, and how your idea would address it.)

Today, electric vehicles (EVs) account for up to 10% of new passenger vehicle sales in certain regions of the country. As EV adoption continues to rise, airports are installing new charging stations for employees, passengers, and ridesharing companies. However, the complex planning, financing, and technological considerations associated with EV chargers can be challenging for airports of any size.

Objective (What is the desired product or result that will help the airport industry?)
