Industrial meat, poultry, and dairy production has a huge footprint of resource consumption--energy, water, and land. As a result the practice produces air, water and land pollution. The practice also causes human health related deceases.

 

A triple Bottom Line analysis of low carbon plant based food usage will be helpful to encourage the change and ultimately eliminate the use of industrial food sources.

 

With the expected population rise and climate change, this is an important sustainability initiative.

Background (Describe the current situation or problem in the industry, and how your idea would address it.)

Few progressive airlines and airports already have introduced plant based food choices. Doctors have been recommending to improve and prevent bad heath. United Nation has been advocating to face the population rise and the climate change.
The barriers are mostly cultural--result of generations of belief system that to consume animal based food is healthy and socially prosperous status.
Just as the globalization has left certain population at disadvantage one must consider the policy to ensure that the affected population is cared for.
Aviation industry doe not have much of choice to use alternate fuel and it is costly. At the same time airlines are under scrutiny to reduce carbon footprint. This policy could offer a no-cost solution for the aviation industry by having an accredited protocol to reduce the GHG.
